How to Change a Dyson V8 Battery
Fitting a new battery to a Dyson V8 takes about ten minutes and three screws. Before you order, check whether your machine takes a screw-in or a click-in pack — they are not interchangeable.

The V8 is one of the easiest Dyson machines to re-battery, but it is also the one people most often order the wrong part for. Dyson used two different pack designs across the V8 range: a screw-in pack held by three screws, and a later click-in pack released by a catch. This guide covers the screw-in type.
Check this first
Look at the bottom of the battery where it meets the handle. If you can see screw heads, you have the screw-in type covered here. If there is a release catch and no screws, you need a click-in pack instead — the two will not fit each other.

Step-by-step instructions
Remove the old battery
Unscrew the 3 battery screws — one at the back of the handle and two underneath the battery. Support the battery and pull it straight down and away from the handle.
Install the new battery
Slide the new battery up into the handle until it seats against the contacts. Put all 3 screws back and tighten gently. Fully charge the battery before first use.
